We have lots of exciting things happening at Patford House Partnership.  Keep up to date with the latest patient news and updates here.

Prescriptions Ordering Direct Service

From 8th March patients who collect their medication from local Pharmacies will be able to order medication via the Prescription Ordering Direct Service.

Whilst we would still prefer for patients to use their Systm Online, Airmid or NHS App to order their repeat medication, for those patients who might find this difficult for any reason the POD team can assist on 03003 035090.

This service is not open to patients who collect their medication at Sutton Benger Dispensary.  I fthis applies to you please  continue to request medication in the usual way.

If your local Pharmacy or online Pharmacy usually orders your medication on your behalf, they may now ask you to contact the POD instead or alternatively to use your Systm Online, Airmid or NHS App.  In cases where it is clinically relevant for them to do so, your Pharmacy can continue to manage the ordering of your medication with permission from the POD.

Over the course of the next few months the Surgery will cease to accept hand-written requests for medication or requests made via e-mail.  Patients who request medication this way will continue to have their prescription processed but will be reminded about the POD service and encouraged to use it next time

We would like to offer assistance to any patient who wishes to have additional help to log-in or navigate their online services.  Please speak to any of our team members to arrange this.  Alternatively, if you have any questions about the POD or wish to discuss the service in more detail please let us know.

PHP Rated Good by CQC

Our CQC inspection report is now available to view.  Patford House Partnership was given the news after CQC inspectors visited its three practice sites earlier this year.

While at Beversbrook Medical Centre, Sutton Benger Surgery and Patford House Surgery, the inspection team spoke with practice staff, observed day-to-day activity and reviewed patient records.

They found that significant improvements had been made over the last 12 months and saw first-hand that staff were now working in ways that kept patients safe and protected from avoidable harm.

As such, inspectors agreed to overturn the previous rating of inadequate, which had been given following a visit in May 2021.

Patford House Partnership now has an overall rating of Good, and has been credited with providing its patients with good care that is not only safe, but also effective and well-led.

However, inspectors did find some areas still in need of further work, and these will be addressed as part of the practices’ ongoing improvement journey.

Dr Andrew Girdher, CCG Clinical Chair, said: “Patford House Surgery has made a number of positive changes in recent months, all of which have helped the practice to improve on its previous CQC rating.

“We’re in regular contact with the team and are fully aware that while today’s announcement is good news, some areas still need addressing, which is why we will continue to provide support where it’s needed, as well as offer helpful challenges, so that we can be absolutely sure that patients are receiving the best possible service.”

Launch of 'My PHP'

Patford House Partnership are proud to launch our new blog - My PHP.  An opportunity for staff to share information to our patients to help them stay happy and healthy.  The PHP team are so excited about this launch and are lining up to have their turn to share.

The first blog post comes from Dr Astin, who is sharing advice and guidance on how to manage hay fever symptoms this summer.

We hope you enjoy reading our posts!

New Patients Can Now Register Online

We are welcoming new patients and have now made it even easier to register as a patient with Patford Hosue Partnership using our online registration service.

Patients who are registering online no longer need to bring in two forms of ID as part of the registration process and the form is simple and easy to follow.  NHS Digital have made this available to any patient wishing to register with our surgeries who have also signed up for the NHS App, making registration for new patients simple and quick.

Paper copies of the form are still available and of course our happy and friendly Reception staff are available to help new patients with the registration process.  Patients who do not wish to register online will still be required to bring in to Practice two forms of ID.

New Build News

Planners have given the final green light for Calne's new medical centre building - meaning construction will get underway soon.  The new building will replace Patford House Surgery and create the modern space the practice needs for the future.

A contemporary, attractive building, using high quality materials which enhance distinctive local characteristics and complement the surrounding area, the new Surgery on Silver Street will include more consulting and treatment rooms, new technology in patient areas, a major treatments suit, meeting and administration facilities as well as a mobile diagnostic unit bay and the potential for an on-site pharmacy - all adding modern capacity to the town's health system.  The design has also been tweaked to help provide pandemic resilience for the future.  There will be plenty of car parking including disabled access spaces.

Construction of the new medical centre is expected to take around 15 months.

Beat the Street is Back in Calne!

Beat the Street is coming back to Calne!
A fun game to encourage people to get out and about in their local community either by walking, running and cycling is coming to Calne.
From 15 September until 13 October people from Calne can get involved in Beat the Street. The purpose of the project is to empower communities and increase the use of urban green spaces and to improve health by encouraging people to get more active.

The Beat the Street competition has been a success across the UK and people are encouraged to earn points, win prizes and discover more about their local area by picking up a card and swipe beat boxes across the community. Beat boxes have had signal strength boosted to make them contactless to ensure they are as safe as possible during the pandemic.

COVID-19 messaging is also shared throughout the game and ground markers advise of social distancing.  The project is run nationally by an organisation called Intelligent Health and is funded by Calne Town Council & Wiltshire Council.  For more information and to get involved, please visit the Calne Beat the Street webpage.
